Photography Basics

Learn what your camera is really doing -
and how to make it work for you

I still remember (not so fondly) getting my first “real” camera.

Like many people, I quickly “graduated” from full auto to “P” mode.
Which, naturally, must stand for “professional”… right?

Turns out — not quite.

No matter how much I practiced or experimented, something just didn’t add up.

  • Night shots? Blurry, noisy chaos.

  • Landscapes? Flat and underwhelming.

  • Candid portraits? Let’s just say… not everyone was thrilled with the results.

It was frustrating. Because I knew what I wanted the image to look like — I just didn’t know how to get there.

What I was missing wasn’t talent. It was understanding.

Tripods. Image stabilization. ISO and noise.
Composition. Focal length. Light.

All the things that suddenly make photography click.

Starting out — or even revisiting the basics — can feel overwhelming. There’s a lot to take in, and it’s easy to feel stuck.

Yes, there are endless tutorials online.
But nothing quite replaces learning this hands-on, with someone guiding you through it in real time.

In this workshop, we’ll build a solid foundation together.
You’ll learn the technical essentials (don’t worry — we’ll keep the “necessary evil” part manageable), explore composition, and — most importantly — apply everything directly.

This isn’t about memorizing settings. It’s about understanding what your camera is doing, and why.

You’ll be able to:

• bring your own camera and immediately put things into practice
• get hands-on help when something doesn’t quite “click”
• ask questions, go at your own pace, and explore what interests you most
• connect with others who share your curiosity for photography

By the end of the course, things will start to make sense.

You’ll confidently tell the difference between Aperture Priority, Dynamic Range and File Type (yes — very different things 😉), compose your images with intention, and take control of your camera instead of letting it decide for you.
