#LNDNWLK
Olivier Glod
Last weekend was #LNDNWLK weekend :-)
Johnny and Rebecca Patience together with Mathieu Gasquet and Heather Broster (both of MirrorLessons fame) organized a photowalk in London and I was among those heeding their call. I do have to admit that I was a bit starstruck, personally meeting quite a few photogs I admire, but as it turns out they are some of the genuinely nicest people I've ever had the chance to run into.
Meet a part of the gang
We spent an awesome afternoon, exploring much of central London and even witnessing a protest making its way towards Piccadilly Circus.
This was quite impressive and under heavy police surveillance
After having successfully avoided the temptations on display in the Leica store, we finished the day over a nice lunch and drink at The Old Red Cow.
Heather, probably reviewing a picture of one of the most handsome men she has ever seen (yours truly ;-) ).
As unfortunately all good things have to come to an end, I went back to the hotel room to recharge my batteries (well... mine, but my camera's as well :-) ).
The following day, I had a couple of hours left before my flight home, so I decided to quickly head towards Kensington Gardens and Westminster afterwards.
The London Eye, as seen from Embankment.
Just a little gear talk at the end:
OH MY (insert religious deity of your choice), LNDNWLK was CAMERA PORN!!!
Medium Format, Full Frame, APS-C, M43, film, digital, Mamiya, Bronica, Leica, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony, Olympus and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I could have spent days, just staring at those beautiful, BEAUTIFUL cameras, chatting with their owners and fondling them (the cameras, not the owners!) :-)
For my part, I decided to take the Sony RX1R to London. I've had this little gem for about three months now, but haven't had the time and possibility to give it a good test drive prior to this trip. I am blown away by the quality this sweet, tiny package delivers and can't wait for our next adventure together (probably Dublin in May).
Here's just a quick example: original OOC shot vs processed.
OOC
Processed (heavily cropped, straightened and shadow details recovered)
#LNDNWLK was brilliant, and I can't wait for version 2.0 :-)
VSCO FILM 05 was used as a starting point for editing.
