A day off

Olivier Glod

What a couple of amazing days! The weather went straight from "oh-my-God-it's-never-going-to-stop-raining" to "heeeelllloooo-Summer!" overnight, with temperatures up to 20 °C.

I had a dentist appointment yesterday afternoon and quite a few hours of overtime to get rid of, so I decided to take the whole day off. Am I glad I did! Not only did I enjoy a lovely morning walk, but I also got a partial lift on an embargo for an event I shot for the Ville d'Echternach. More about this in my next blog post :-)

Meanwhile, here's a few pics I bagged yesterday. I have been having quite a lot of fun recently with mirrorless cameras (Sony RX1R, Olympus OM-D E-M1 and Fuji X-T1), but somehow I grabbed my Canon 5D and the Sigma 24-105 on my way out. There's something very satisfying about the big, fat, powerful "flap-flap" of the mirror going up and down ;-)

The first part was shot in a 500m radius around my house (I know, I'm a very lucky man), while the second part was shot at the Orangerie in Echternach (also only 8 minutes away by foot). Nowadays, this absolutely gorgeous building houses a couple of classrooms for the Lycée Classique d'Echternach, so I was not able to enter the Orangerie itself, but stayed in the beautiful garden, lest the police show up and ask the nice middle-aged, (slightly) portly and balding man that I am, what might be my motivation to shoot other people's children ;-)

Enjoy and take care,

Oli
