Shooting butterflies

It's been a while since my last blog post, but I actually gathered quite a bit of material over the past year, so expect to see some further tales of my adventures coming your way soon :-)

To kick off, here's a couple of shots I took at the "Päiperleksgaart" (butterfly garden in Luxembourgish) in Grevenmacher in 2015 and 2017.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and well worth a visit, especially if you have children ;-)

Of course the butterflies are the main attraction, but there are also quite a few different birds, some tortoises, chameleons, various insects, bees and even some koi fish in this tropical paradise.

Fun fact: the Luxembourgish language has at least three different words for butterfly:

  • Päiperlek
  • Pimpampel
  • Millermoaler

However, quite a few people still use the German word "Schmetterling".

Ah well, enough of my rambling, here's a couple of pictures ;-)

These were shot with either the Olympus OM-D E-M5 MKII or the Olympus OM-D E-M1 MKII. The lens used was always the 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO lens.
